Estacion Central

Built, like the Palacio Legislativo, by the Italian architect Alejandro Ravizza, it opened for service on the 21st September 1861.

It still houses  "Sapucai", the steam engine  used for the inaugural train, and which remained in service until 1910.

The railway itself was built under the direction of an English engineer, John Wihitehead.
